About

I’m just a regular guy raised in Southland. Bought up with many many trips to the banks of the Mataura and Oreti rivers with my father, I returned to Southland after close to 14 years away a couple of years ago. After my father passed away from cancer last year I decided it was time to get back to the banks of those rivers and teach my son how to fish, thus I went out and spent a considerable amount of cash on the right gear and got back out there.

This blog is my record of my nights fishing in arguably the best fly-fishing area in the world on the banks of the rivers I grew up on.

I’m not much of a writer grammatically. However this blog/journal is my way of recording my memories to go back to later. There will be secrets shared here that many fly-fisherman will probably curse me for, like what flys work best in what areas, but I’m no pro fishing guide when it comes to this stuff so don’t expect my advice to be perfect for everyone. There will be night’s where I catch nothing, especially while I get back into it, but still I feel it’s important to share the bad with the good … like reality TV without the scripts and TV side of it.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy my adventures.
